Successful implementation of the whole process of ANTON “TAICHI” water control completion technology: 462 tons of oil increase and 15% water cut reduction

After 340 days of stable operation and production,  Anton “TAICHI” water control completion technology has successfully completed its whole life cycle test in Changqing Oilfield.

"TAICHI" water control completion technology was implemented on the Muping XXX well in Changqing Oilfield on September 23, 2020. After 340 days of stable operation, the water control string was successfully lifted out on September 14, 2021, marking the full life cycle test of “TAICHI” water control completion technology was successfully completed in Changqing Oilfield.

“TAICHI” water control completion technology effectively manages the water cut problem of old wells

The successful implementation of this project has fully verified the effectiveness of the integrated technical system and measures of “TAICHI” water control completion technology in the water cut problem management of old wells.

★1. Whole process design: Individually designed “TAICHI” valves; Comprehensive reservoir geological analysis; Optimized design of segmented completion; Water control effect prediction based on professional software, Field design; Continuous tracking and evaluation of water control effect; String salvage solution, etc.

★2. Effectiveness: The purpose of oil increase and water control is realized, with a cumulative oil increase of 462 tons and 15% average water cut reduction.

★3. String safety: The water control string and supporting tools were reasonably designed. After 340 days, the water control string was safely lifted out in one trip. The tools were safe and reliable, which ensured the integrity of the wellbore.

Low porosity, with crude oil viscosity of only 1.62 mPa·s

 

Drilling of the Muping XXX well was completed in 2015. The horizontal section was 850 meters, the completion method was casing perforation, and a 10-stage perforation fracturing was performed which caused flooding soon after the water injection development.
Operation difficulties and response measures: With the conditions of low porosity, low permeability, low liquid production and underground crude oil viscosity of only 1.62 mPa·s, ANTON reservoir experts and water control experts had discussed and researched for many times to optimize the segmentation scheme and the structure of the water control valve, fully consider the sources of water cut problems based on reservoir analysis, and reasonably allocate the production of each segment.

On September 23, 2020, “TAICHI” water control completion operation on Muping XXX well was completed, and as of September 1, 2021, the cumulative oil increase was 462 tons, and the average water cut decreased by 15%, which increased the benefits of the oilfield.

On September 14, 2021, the water control string of the Muping XXX well was lifted out in one trip, ensured the wellbore integrity. At the same time, the effectiveness and safety of ANTON “TAICHI” water control completion technology in measure wells were once again verified, which reflects the ability of water control completion technology to serve the whole process of reservoir analysis, construction scheme design, field construction and string recovery and salvage.
