2. Technical principle
The packers and sliding sleeves are combined to divide the horizontal laterial into different sections, and then the sleeve is opened for fracturing to specific sections.

■ Reduce rig/workover time, no perforation needed.

■ No cementing needed, so that potential cementing problems in horizontal well can be avoided.

4. Application results
The technology has been used in several wells in China in 2008. The application included staged sand fracturing in sandstone formation, water plugging and staged acid fracturing to carbonate formation. It resolved the technical problems in staged treatment for the horizontal wells.
